Personally, I have to have the heads GONE! I just think chickens are too pretty and I just cant kill something that tries to look me in the eye while doing it. Hubby does the deed, I do the cleanin!(after the head is gone!)

Thanks for the responses The 'coop' is actually a large walled off corner of a huge garage converted into storage building, which is a thick cinderblock building, with a run attached to the door of the coop. So they are basically indoors, but without heat. My worries are at night when it dips...
