unless you have a delicate breed like a serama, if they are feathered out they will be fine. Mine are about the same age as yours and I am not using a heat lamp for them tonight. I have EE, W leghorns and 1 FBC Marans. They are predicting a low of 39 here in Georgia.
One thing I do when I have a nervous chicken is I stay close by when i feed them. After awhile hunger gets the best of them and they always join the others. Every day they get more used to me and relax a little more. Some never really get tame like the others, but at least they do not go crazy...
Does any know if Ideals production black is the same as the california grey? It would be nice to find something that lays like a leghorn, but a little calmer. Thinking of trying some, but I know very little about them. Ideals drawing looks like a barred leghorn to me. If anyone has any...

I tried geese with my flock many years ago, but it did not work out at all. They killed two of my chickens before I got rid of them. I raised them with chickens from when they were babies, but as they became adults you could not predict what they would do.
I grew up in Blue Ridge, but since 1989 I have lived in paulding county. I may move back to the mountains when I retire though as I still have some land there.

After about a 30 yr. break from having chickens I have a small flock again. I have 9 RIR and 3 Red sex-links chicks that I got from Lawsons feed in Dallas. They ordered all pullets from cackle. I forgot how much fun raising chicks can be. I am glad I found this site. I had chickens for many...
