    Ducks breaking eggs

Ok that's what I was thinking. They looked just like the egg you would make for breakfast. I've yet to see anything but yoke. She's probably broken two dozen this summer. Maybe my drakes just not cutting it

    Ducks breaking eggs

Hi I posted a month or so back about my duck breaking her eggs. We believed it to be one of her first batches so we thought that might have been why. But now she's on her second batch with us and she keeps breaking them. The eggs are about a wk or two old now. She keeps rolling them out of the...

    Duck destroying eggs

Hi there, I have a duck and drake Muscovy, both were sold to me as roughly a year old. We started with about 12 eggs roughly a month ago and now we are down to 3. Is this normal. I believe the duck is destroying them, she sits on them all day and seldom comes out. The drake is very friendly and...

    Leg bands

Any one know what size a mature sex links leg band should be. I have to order some bc the stores down here don't carry them. They hen will be about 18wks or so when I plan on putting them with the rest of the flock. I want to be able to identify them from the old birds. Thanks

    Foamy eye

My male Muscovy has a white foam that seems to be showing up in the corner of his eye(s). He doesn't have it all the time, sometimes it's in one eye, sometimes both. I have seen it in the hen once in a blue moon. Any ideas?

Building new 2 story coop/office for hatchery |*PICS*|

I hope you will continue your post. I have been waiting to see how you lay out the interior. I am building my own coop finally and have been looking to see how others have there interiors laid out. Side note, I know the intentions are probably innocent, but as a third party reading on this...

    Roosting Ducks

I went out and got a pair of muscovy's and made a nice enclosure for them in my chicken run. I want to get them accustom to our routine before turning them out to free range during the day. For some reason all they do is roost, 99% of the day. If I throw food on the ground they will come down to...

    Prolapsed vent?

Thanks for your help. There was quite a bit of droppings in the crate this morning. I think the soaks and honey helped whatever was going on. She seems to be better today but I appreciate all the tips. I'm still curious as to what happened to my two other hens. A couple of my hens are bare...

    Prolapsed vent?

Today I noticed one of my hens was acting weird. She was standing there like she was trying to lay an egg, not really moving much and clearly in some kind of pain. Then she would just walk around like nothing was happening. At one point we noticed a large bump around the whole exterior of her...

    Turkeys and chickens

Thanks everyone for all their help. This is all very useful. I plan on raising them together, away from my current hens until they are older and bigger. Since the chicks and turkeys come from the same hatchery, I'm hoping that may eliminate some of the concern for disease
