Internal Layer - Necropsy (Warning - Graphic Pics)

Wow, that is crazy!!! Poor girls. I know hatchery stock isn't supposed to be as good as good breeder stock..............but..............I have to tell ya, the hatchery stock I have outperforms my good breeder stock both in production and in healthiness. Just what I've seen with my limited...

3" Drain pipe chicken feeder. Cheaper then PVC:)

Thanks. I am using crumbles............but will try it with 3". Really defeats the purpose if I have to go in and pull the feed down with my finger.

3" Drain pipe chicken feeder. Cheaper then PVC:)

I made some of these using 2 1/2" PVC schedule 40 since nobody seems to carry thinwall PVC much. Anyway, the chickens LOVE the feeders, but they don't seem to feed well ie., the feed doesn't seem to flow easily down into the trough area. Any ideas?? I have Seramas so the 2 1/2" should be fine...

Show off your small or cheap made coop

Awesome idea! So glad to see this thread. I need to build some cheap, easy (I don't know how to build) little coops to go inside my large runs. I am building new pens for the Seramas and each will be 6x6 and will each need a place for them to get out of the weather, nest, etc.

    Sulmet?

Bumping this up because I'm having to treat some chicks with Sulmet. I have been told 1 tsp per gallon, but the bottle says 2 TB per gallon. Would like to know what's correct and for how long. Thanks!

    How to prevent pasty butt?

Bumping this up because I'm curious. I was also told that chicks will get pasty butt if too hot. I just hatched my very first hatch and have 9 chicks, and none have pasty butt, but want to prevent it now and in the future as I plan to do a lot of hatching!

    Brinsea incubators

I am a first time hatcher. I bought a Genesis 1588 but had to abandon the hatch when I couldn't keep the temps nor humidity right. It was kinda cold outside and this room doesn't get heat or air. So I bought a Brinsea Advance EX with humidity pump and it is TRULY set and forget. I LOVE this...

I still can't believe that I got it!!!! There were several ahead of me that wanted it, but all their hubbies said NO! LOL I am trying to figure out the best place to put the Brinsea. Could put it in my closet(which is HUGE, but also can't even walk in there!!! LOL) to at least provide a...

Chocolate Serama Breeders - dun and blue can be included here as well

Just wanted to say hello! Haven't been on here a while.........not sure I like the new layout, but just have to get used to it. I had bought a Hovabator and tried a test hatch with my leghorns and that didn't turn out well. I just bought a Brinsea and it's not here yet. Has the humidity pump so...

Serama eggs from Castle Delight Seramas

So glad the Amadeus baby is doing well! I don't know that I would be brave enough to open the eggs. I think it would break my heart to see them. I know it's helpful to know what happened...........but just don't think I could do it. Can't wait to see pics as your babies grow! I'd like to...

    Best Place to Purchase Leghorns???

I don't plan on showing them, want them for egg production only. Love their personalities and want good quality birds. Where's the best place to purchase them? Would love to have browns, but currently have whites and color isn't really too important. Thanks!
