Thanks for all the info... but I'm sure of my rooster being ten years old....he was my neighbors for 9 years.. :) he's so old his toes are wore down to stubs... but he will still take down any predators that come near the girls. ( crows..geese.. chipmunks) . I will check the girls for mites...

hello everyone... in the last few days I keep getting these tiny eggs( smaller than a ping pong ball) from my 1 year old rir. Hens who usually lay large or extra large eggs. Also I cracked one open and it had no yolk... any ideas why???
hello... i hatched 18 R.I.R eggs last spring.. 6 of the 18 were roosters.. all of them were very friendly and were handled a lot until the got to be 5 months old.. why did the roosters turn mean at 5 months?
