We have ducks, quail, and chickens. The ducks won't be hatching for a little while. The chickens and quail are hatching anytime between today and Friday.
When are you hatching again?
I just bought another incubator 😂
We have a friend that asked us to do 42 duck eggs again and he is giving us 42 free chicken eggs 🤪 we are going hatch crazy.
We actually just sold all of our chicks, I think we've sold over 40 the past few days.
I swear March and April were horrible in the hatch threads. Last month we had a lot of losses and lost our favorite bantam rooster 😭 this month wasn't too bad besides this hatch. Just a lot of clears 😑
Meet Nevaeh and Anastasia... They aren't meat ducks I decided 😁 BOTH are confirmed female by vent sexing. I'll say it's 90% chance they're female. Only 2 ducklings hatched, but our ducks are new to laying this spring so next hatch will be better. I got 5 chicks as well.
It takes a long time for an egg to cool. In my experience an egg has to sit for about 7 minutes outside of the incubator for it to drop to about 85. I don't know anyone who leaves their eggs out that long or their incubator open that long.
That's funny you noticed one had the iridescent tail. The iridescent tail one is Dio. The full tail one is Ozzy. My husband can't even tell the difference 😂
