Thank you Peter!!! I believe your new page will help many folks who are looking into raising Faverolles. A little bit of knowledge goes a long way and saves a lot of Faverolles from ignorance (mine included). I used to think all chickens acted the same way and had no idea different breeds...

Thank you Sandkilaws and pfmerlin for your information. I truly wish I'd known this in 2010. Before I found BYC I didn't know very much about faverolles. Choose to order them because of their pretty fuzzy faces, but Ideal Poultry didn't give any info on their sweet/docile/more fragile...

OnAdobeRoad and Nambroth, I got my first Faverolles chicks in 2010 from Ideal Poultry in Cameron TX. I've had many different breeds through the years and found the Hatchery Faverolles to be more fragile than other breeds. Both the roo and hens were easily bullied by just about all the other...

I am so sorry for your change of plans!! Perhaps this will give you an opportunity to do something different. I have a mixed flock and have found my salmon faverolles to be the sweetest of all my breeds. In 2010 I decided to get an incubator and hatch eggs I found from breeders here at...

Thank you Bentley for your information. Sounds like you've studied the development of eggs. One can never have too much knowledge, so we all appreciate being educated to a deeper level. I will say I (and everybody else) have better hatch rates when incubating our own backyard eggs. But I...

Thanks sandiklaws, I believe the key word here is SHIPPED eggs. I've never worried about settling my backyard eggs, since I carefully carry them into the house.....but who knows what shipped eggs go through before they get to us. My rural route mail lady is very careful with my shipped egg...

Quote: Anybody? There are a number of fine breeders who belong to BYC and post on this thread. You might want to read through and look at different member's websites until you see what you want.

Henry, Those look like happy cows!!! I lived in Johnson Vermont '92-'95 at the Vermont Studio Center for visual artists & writers. There was a gentleman named Warren (can't remember his last name) who had a dairy farm a little north of Johnson. He'd graduated from UVM and was raising...

Quote: Hang in there NapoleanGoose!! So sorry to hear about you losing your roo. but glad to know you have his genes in your bator. If one has chickens long enough, one always loses that first roo. It's sad, but part of the process. Good luck with your 6 eggs in the bator!!!
