This thread has died down a bit (crazy hurricane and winter weather :(? ), hoping it will pick up in the spring when it's hatching season! Our babies are mostly grown now. It's kind of funny, their colors correspond with chubiness level, from super puff (blacks), to medium (quail), to...

Mine are from a local breeder, but I'm not sure where hers came from. Does your runty one look like mine? :) That camera's an old Canon 5D classic. I keep wanting to upgrade, but then...chickens.

The one we have is a lavender, too! Coincidence? Linked? Finally got some photos of the little bugger:

That's what I'm afraid of... :hitBut! As long as she/he is peeping strongly and still motoring about, we're going to see if we can keep her up with babying. On a happier side, of the 5 healthy ones, only 1 looks like a roo. :bow

Has anybody experience with 'dwarfed' d'Anvers? Out of the 6 six chicks that hatched, one pretty much stopped growing at ~3 weeks, has very short legs, and kind of an odd head shape (resembles a baby songbird with oversize beak and angry eyes). She's quite weak and doesn't seem to eat or drink...

Woo, sun! They lay eggs in the 25-28g range, pretty similar to my Serama eggs (though the Serama are much smaller).

Yay, another person! How old are your girls now? Our two are 7 months now, little egg factories so far once they finally started. We're hoping to get some different colors from Boggy Bottom Bantams this season!

Thanks! They have the cutest owl faces and chirpy noises. How are yours faring in in the great North?

Our two little girls are six months now! A bit ratty as they have been playing in the mud and bushes. Still not laying, but we have about 6 hours of daylight. Want to get them lots of different colored d'anver buddies next year.

Ooh, are there easy to tell disqualifications for this breed? One of the chicks is definitely a rooster, so we have to find a new home for him soon, but it'd be great if he could be used for 4-H or something.

She's beautiful! Dun colored...? Chickies are a couple weeks old now and growing fast. One (possibly even two ) is already starting to develop a bumply comb, though I don't know if both girls and guys can develop it early.

Thanks! They are disgustingly cute and tiny little beggars for cheese. Would you happen to know genetics behind why one of them has kind of a lemon yellow tint along the chest? She/he has also a more yellowy beak and feet but the same beetle black eyes. Quite a lovely pastel. I don't know if it...

We just got some little lavender chicks from a breeder nearby, they are the cutest little buggers. One of them is a little bit yellow, and one is a little bit runty/not as puffy as the others but has very quickly developing wing feathers. They alternate between loving/cuddling up and being...
