Do you trim their vent feathers? I sure noticed a HUGE difference when I trimmed up my Jubilee Orpingtons and now EVERYBODY gets a trim. I just trim all the feathers all the way around a good bit. Some of these heavily feathered breeds have trouble making good contact. It certainly can't hurt...
I've got Hinks-JC Line Lavender Orpingtons. They are American Standard, not English and lay a ton more eggs with much better fertility than my English Jubilees.

Lavender does work differently. It actually works in a similar fashion as breeding splash to splash...so you shouldn't have a "splash Lavender" but I was just wondering if having a bird with a few dark feathers ever happens. I sure hope she isn't a splash Blue Orpington. I do t breed those...
