I just looked at your pics. That one 'bator is huge! Very cool. i almost bought an industrial sized incubator because it was on craigslist for $300 & held like a million eggs but I didn't know how I'd get it to my house. I opted for a GQF instead, which I got for cheep on CL as well. Here's a pic.
lol..yes, you are the "momma" hen now....I would wait until he/she is totally dry (fluffy) to get him out...you can leave them in for about 24 hours if needed..I read it isn't good to open the 'bator once you have chicks pipping because this will make the humidity drop & the hatching chicks need...
You can find standard colors here but not so much of the different colors, which is what i like. I have Gold Laced, Gold Partridge, Blue, Blue Partridge, Pyle, & Light colors.
Oh Lord. Almost anything you could imagine, & some I've never heard of. lol Who knew there were so many different chickens. I have Brahmas, Marans, Cochins, Cream Legbars, & Jubilee Orpingtons. Brahmas are my favorite though-love those feathered feet. :)
Cool..I have the smaller one you have...it has worked pretty well...i have hatched 5 Marans & 16 Cochins out of it so far...I used it as a hatcher for the Cochins because I bought a GQF off of Craiglist for CHEEP! ;) Happy Hatching!!!
Thanks everyone for the ideas. It still stinks but I had to set it up for a hatch. I think it will be ok for the eggs, but when this hatch is over, this sucker is getting torn apart & cleaned thoroughly. :)
Thank you both. I tried the bleach. Can't fit it in my tub though. lol Idk bout essential oils. You're right, residue might do something to the chicks. I'm afraid this smell might do something as well. :/ I have a bowl of baking soda in there now to try to absorb the stench but it doesn't seem...
Hi! I just bought a used GQF incubator...everything on it works great but it is very dirty...& it STINKS!! How should I go about cleaning this beauty? It even has some dobber nests in it...any info would be greatly appreciated...:)
