Looks so peaceful and pretty! My Splash Ameraucana hen tries to crow every couple weeks so if this one does too I can put together a little band of crowing splash ladies

Gooster is now 18 weeks old. All photos taken with adult hens for comparison. Comb and wattles are still unremarkable but legs are longer and thicker and feet are bigger than even my Jersey Giant hens which are the largest in my flock. It has also started growing long thin flowing neck feathers...

I don't have any very good recent pics but here it is at 13 weeks. It does have some darker blotchy areas coming in so I think it's definitely a splash Orpington. I know it looks female in the photos but I'm 90% sure it's a slow developing male. I need to get a picture with it standing next to...

No major changes at 9 weeks so maybe female or slow developing cockerel which I've experienced with Orps  Will keep updating until I know for sure just in case it can help anyone else in the future.

I think this one’s going to keep me guessing for a while :idunno

Ok so this chick got into a proper dust up with a cockerel nest mate today. Hackles raised kicks flying feathers pulled out sort of deal. S/he did not back down and this wasn’t normal chick play fighting. I've seen hens quarrel with each other and with roos but pullets at this age don't tend to...

8.5 week update - I think that Rhodebar Lover was spot on with Splash Orpington so that's one mystery solved. I still go back and forth on the sex though. To me, the early comb and wattle development, leg size, slow feathering, upright stance, and bold as brass personality all shout cockerel...

This particular chick prefers the term sturdy steppers or pins of steel over huge dinosaur legs thank you very much :D

Well fiddlesticks, don't I feel silly :th I'm quite familiar with BBS and yet this whole time all I kept thinking was "what's this weird white chicken" 🥴 I'll keep updating as she grows but I'm quite sure you are right. Want to have a guess at gender? This one has had me going back and forth...

I do love me some Orpingtons and this one certainly has the look but Meyer doesn't sell Splash Orpingtons. Lavender is the closest they sell and she's way too white

Here are some pics from today. She is 7 weeks and 1 day old. Her head area isn't pure white anymore and she mayyyy be developing the odd bit of blue here and there or she may just be dirty from a dustbath :hmm Any new guesses on what breed this is?

Nope, they don't sell either. Only Black Jersey Giants.

It does look like a White Australorp, but Meyer doesn't sell that breed. They do, however, sell an Austra White which is a Black Australorp roo over a White Leghorn hen. That wasn't meant to be an option of the assortment and it didn't look like the photos of the baby chicks I could find but...

Six week update time! :bun I definitely think this cutie is a hybrid but have no idea of parentage. I also think it may be a roo with the comb coloring and slow feathering. It is also feisty and likes to be right in the thick of things with the adult hens. Anyone have any new ideas on the...

Ooh that's a fun guess! I do love my Black Jersey Giants. But I checked their website and they don't list that as a breed they sell and I think that WJG chicks aren't pure white. Here is a picture of this sassy little chick yesterday. I still don't know what it is and I'm starting to think it's...

It's not listed as a possible breed, but perhaps she's a white Easter Egger? She has almost no tail so I'm not sure what else she could be.

Lavender Orpington is an option but I think she's way too light.
