I did that with some newspaper and sprinkled some food on it. They pecked at it but they still peck at the shavings in other spots. I guess I could cover the entire thing in newspaper until they get more use to the food. I dunno!
Yippeee!!!! I got my first babies...ok they're not chickens, they're ducklings, but they are still babies and are soooo cute. I have 2 black cayugas, 2 magpies, 1 mallard, 1 khaki Campbell. Ok they are also not even mine, they are the kids, they each got one, and they were a wonderful gift from...
That's great you didn't have too much damage. I was actually born in NC and raised between there and SE VA. I have always been use to but hated the heat down there. I welcome the freeze...lol.
We had to evacuate into the hills of Tenn during Isabel came back to a house that had over 18" of...
Well Welcome nakactress. This is such an awesome place to meet new friends and learn lots about chickens.
So why did you leave AK? I love homeschooling my kids too!
Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :
LOL! That's ok... I think that's a great mix of chicks... I'm so glad you guys "met" here on BYC.
Me too, Aimee is such a sweetie and we seem to have quite a bit in common.
Hey there Cajunlizz,
Yeah we made it up here. Found a farmhouse and a 20 acre farm. We love it here so much and are making friends. I've been to Louisiana and I know all about that heat and humidity. I hate it. My roots and family are in the south but I wouldn't leave the North if you paid me...
As far as Steph's babies, they are in my bator. I get to practice hatching, and she gets the babies. They are a mix of EE'S, RIR, and Buff O's. I have 6 banty eggs too. They should be hatchng July 13.
Yeah what she said....lol I think we are both equally excited.
Sorry wasn't sure who you...

Hey Tori,
Did you send the last post to me or Aimee? Cause she's the crazy duck lady (and she knows it ) not me. I wasn't sure so if it was to me then here goes if not then, sorry.
The Valley is great we love it here. Obviously we haven't been around the rest of Alaska but really look...
Doing good crazy duck lady...
It's the loaner I was telling you about from the school. It's a little older than I have had lately but it will definitly work for a month until the new ones are in
Tori,
OK when I get some horses y'all can all come over here and we'll have a girls riding day out lol.
Aimee,
That sucks about your bator. Hopefully your new one will arrive quickly. Do you already have eggs waiting to go in it? If we can get our coop ready in time we will definitly help...
Things are coming together Alan's been replacing tools for work (sold them all before the big move for more room) and he starts his first officail day tomorrow. I think he's still wanting to find work on the slopes tho. But all in all things are going good.
Has your bator arrived? When do you...
He gave me his website (www.alaskatripled.com) and we spoke about the different chics he had and prices and feeding etc. Then he had to tak the phone and so Alan and I looked around the place. His website seems pretty informative too.
