Bob the chicken, lol! I've been calling my broody hen's 2 pullets the Half Pints because they're so tiny. :lau They're Japanese Bantam/Leghorn crosses but they definitely took after the tiny Bantam rooster. They look identical!
It's not desirable to keep the humidity that high for the early stages of incubation but when you have staggered hatches you kind of just have to make do. Anyone with staggered hatches does this so you're not alone! I would probably just wait to elevate the humidity until day 19 or the first...

I put mine on lockdown last night! I guess I should set up the brooder just in case but I'm planning to put them under my broody hen. Fingers crossed!
I've been out of the loop on this hatchalong. Was this egg in the incubator? Under a broody hen? How did it happen? I've never had a chick pip through yolk but that's not to say it's impossible. Is there any chance that the humidity was too high through incubation and what you were seeing is...
Whether they're going to be good at brooding or not doesn't seem to have anything to do with age in my experience! It's a personality thing. This broody is less than 1 year old and she's doing fantastic with her chicks that are over a month old now!
