Now I want some! Yeah, my ducks just march away together and ignore me (unless I have peas!) I wanted a goose before but I found out how mean ganders can be ... but then I thought I could just get females ... but then I realized they don't lay well. I want some now, but my coop is too small! I...
I'm thinking about geese .... why do you like them?
13! Well, I guess that just seems like alot cause I only have six ducks.
Yeah, when they've just moved out and you clean up the huge mess, you aren't crazy about getting more ASAP
What color is your drake?
Aww I love fawn & white runners! The rest are really pretty, too! How many do you have again? 100? Seems like alot more when they grow up!
I really missed mine when they went outside, but they are happier out there.
How big is their coop? You really want more after seeing the mess they make?! Just kidding! Who wouldn't want more ducks?!!
I think a good fence will keep out the daytime predators. I'm not worried about my welded wire fence I have for the chickens, but my ducks have to be in their coop by 7:00 p.m. or someone has to be outside with them since they are either in a chicken wire fence or free ranging, not in a good...
Hm. Well, I guess the most a goose could do in that area is to sound the alarm, which I hear they're good at doing. I've thought about electric wire and I guess I should look into it because a fox does know I have poultry!
D'ya think if there were alot of geese they'd be protection against a fox?
I was thinking about getting a couple along with the ducks for protection, but I learned that geese aren't the best layers so they wouldn't be cost-effective.
Whoa! They are so big! What kind of waterer do you use for all of them?
They look like they're having a blast in their pool! Do the goslings go in, too, or just the ducks?
I just tried it. They seemed curious and paused to listen, but my voice isn't very deep, so they weren't mesmerized or anything like that. I wonder why they do that, though. I should try different noises with them and see if there's any pattern to it.
Well, sometimes when I whistle mine pay attention. I guess they just don't know what that noise it is since they're used to the sound of my voice but not that. Kind of like when the dog walks by- they are cautious but not exactly scared.
Yeah, it's easier without the heat lamp. I put mine out yesterday, and, for some odd reason, it went from 80 degrees on Saturday to somewhere in the 40s yesterday . I feel bad for the ducks, but they have most of their feathers now, anyways, at 5 and 6 weeks. They smelled really bad in the...
