That was a crazy few days in Eastern Ontario. Thankfully did not lose power as I also have eggs in incubators. Snow storm, rain, and now +12 today. In the path of the total eclipse tomorrow. No wonder egg laying has been hit and miss

I hope you did some research on "chicken math". lol. It has also affected me with ducks, guinea fowl, and peacocks.

I'm also in Eastern Ontario. Who would have thought I would have to be worried about tricks in February? I've also had to separate my 2 drakes because hormones are rising way too early. I feel badly because it seems that Jack, my older drake, is going to lose his top duck position to Kitkat.

So last Friday we were hit with an ice storm. Now one week later predicted high tomorrow is +28. No wonder my animals are confused. My pony (shown is avatar) is shedding heavily. Last time I brushed him out, the area looked like a white rabbit exploded.

Looks like a lot of Canada is in for some rough weather. Certainly true for Ontario for the next few days. Stay safe.

I was told that they show up when the soybean is being harvested. Fortunately not many get in but there are so many on the windows. 🤢

Sorry don't have any. I'm in Eastern Ontario. I have bought and sold on Kijiji, and wondered if you have tried there. Also check out local poultry groups. I wonder if we are going to able to get back to local poultry swap/buy/sell meets in the spring.

The first year is always the hardest - for the people not the birds. Think of all those blankets and jackets stuffed with feathers. You could try doing a search on BYC for ideas on how others have handled winterizing their coops.

Our chickens, ducks, and peacocks all live separately. You could check out the peacock thread so see what others think.

Muscovy's on vehicle roofs. That's a familiar site. I use Kijiji to buy and sell my poultry. Even with our covid restrictions, this can safely be done outdoors. I would suggest in an ad that you include their age and sex.

Welcome from Eastern Ontario. You might want to chat with your neighbours about the fact you are getting chickens. Most concerns was be cured free eggs.
