I was told that they show up when the soybean is being harvested. Fortunately not many get in but there are so many on the windows.

I have no soybean fields in my area, but I have clouds of them every year. They eat aphids and this was a heavy year for aphids.

Lastly, when all else fails, tie a stocking over your vacuum and suck them up. Then you tie off the stocking to do whatever your ethical heart decides is appropriate: drowning or squishing or releasing into your neighbor's shed.

They taste like farts! (Crunchy farts)

I know this from people who accidentally had one fly into their mouth, I have not had the pleasure myself. Never seen a chicken eat one, never see them in a spider web.

BUT!

Cold kills them, so just watch them with the cruelty only an experienced Cdn has about the coming cold when viewing an invader in the garden. "Yeah... Fly little crunchy-fart... Frolick in the leaves... I'll just stand here with my snow shovel and wait for you to be done... don't mind me"

They got into my CAR! I don't know how. I drove to town today for some feed, and there were at least four of them in there. When they were in the proper position, I would open the window and let them get sucked back outside.
