I had a partridge rock feather out very slow like that. I know it wasn't lack of nutrients because I had 29 other chicks feathering great with him. I think it has to be genetics. But he eventually feathered out just fine.
They will hide for up to a few hours. Specially if they were very close to the hawk or had a close call with it. When your sure the hawk is gone. Try calling with treats.
I will be hatching two full incubators all the till July probably. Well that's if they keep selling on Craigslist. Witch they have been selling in 24 hours just about every hatch. I just got ducks so duck eggs next year.
Oh in other news. I own ducklings now witch some of you might know. I thought chick brooders got messy. Duckling brooders get messy quick. I have a container with a hole in it so they can dunk there heads in as well as there regular water. I have to clean these things numerous times a day. And...
Orust chick update. There starting to feather a little bit. All are eating and drinking good. Still have no idea on sexes. Will just have to wait I guess. But there loving life. And I'll move them to the big brooder in a week I think.
Couldn't help my self just put 42 more eggs in the bator. All barnyard mixes. The barnyard mixes I hatched for the hatch along. Went to there knew home today my moms friend bought them all. She was in love with them.
Ya I'm with someone who already said it. Hovabator has been much better for me then any other incubator iv bought. They just seem to old good temps. I always get good hatch rates with them.
So many chirps around the house it's crazy. I have another egg that pipped. So might get 8 barnyard mixes. Usually I leave the little ones in the house for 24 to 48 hours. But I'm thinking a week or two for the Orust lol before they go to the outside brooder.
Just had to put my free rangers up in there I closed run. Hawk on the prowl my rooster Thor had all the hens in hiding. He's such a good boy. They like to free range the property and help me water the garden and do chores. But I told them trust you like to live better. So there a little mad they...

The one with black back and yellow body are Orust chickens. There a ultra rare breed. I got ten eggs shipped and eight hatched. The others are barnyard mixes. Mostly barred rock and black Minorca.
