I just bought four 2-wk old chicks last weekend and introduced them to my older flock I bought last year. My Mottled Houdan cockerel is the only one who showed any aggression, but I think he just wanted to eat her toes. :) He didn't mess with her until I let her toes poke between my fingers.

I have the next on my wish list. I started out wanting some cochin bantams, but I didn't get them because the hatchery required I buy 15 along with 15 of the standard. I understood why, but didn't feel the need for 30 chickens... SO! <------After feeling like this, I started doing...

The colors of the ones in the middle. Are those mottled? I ask because they are marked the same as my Mottled Houdans were as chicks.

I had to look that up too, and some one said that 8 weeks is the magic age of acceptance. I didn't wait that long. I put mine in at 6 weeks with a 21 week old and three 17 week olds. I think it depends on the temperament of the older chickens, so all I can suggest is when you think they...
