hi Jessie! Good to see you here!
The dark cornish were my adult birds that went on to live with a friend of mine in the Butte...did I say I won't miss that rooster? lol......
The hatch went pretty good! I replied to your email a bit ago....
Deb
The dark cornish found a wonderful home..
However, I thought I'd pop on and say I HEAR chirps coming from the incubator!!!!! and one pipped......*sigh* Spring is here!
Yea well, to him they are nothing but pigeons!
They came from a lady in Anchorage who was moving. I brought home 8 of them and two pairs went to a friend of mine who has a huge aviary. I kept two pairs.
These guys are called Roller Pigeons. I'm hoping this summer we'll have a great little...
I think they are gorgeous. I found the male sitting on the nest today. She seems to sit it at night.
Here he is manning the fort.....he's laying on two eggs now Which is all they lay each time they decide to lay....
The mom is the red bird, she's hanging outside with the other male.
Well! I just went out to the coop and found one of the pigeons sitting on an egg! Now lets just cross our fingers she's fertile!
Mad dash to go look up squab care! lol...I don't even know what their gestation is!
Eveil,
That toe was vulnerable in the first place so it wouldn't surprise me that it would be the only one to freeze. Epsom salts is a good idea in the warm bath, dry it off really well and putting Vaseline on it afterward wouldn't hurt either...or triple antibiotic ointment. Although
you'll...
I do think it's frostbite.....You show her foot sitting in snow that was my whole reasoning behind keeping her in a warm spot. I have had chickens recover just fine in a heated coop as long as
it is kept clean and no one is picking on her. The transition from going from the coop to a heated...
I'm only guessing but it looks like she might have got frost bite on that foot after it healed?
Are you able to keep her inside the coop, close the door on them for a few days so that she stays warm? If so I'd soak it a little in warm water to see if you cant get the
swelling down a bit.

Well we have to give credit to a couple of different folks, if it wasn't for Tori when I lost my pullet way back when I wouldn't have had any Dellies!
If Rachel can't set you up with more. I have one other person I can contact to see if they still have Dellies...

I don't know how many your friend is wanting but I know of at least one local flock that has mostly good breeder bloodlines. (My old flock is still in tact, but I don't know how many hens survived a bout of owl attacks.) If you're interested, I could get hatching eggs for you for a...
