Welcome!! I've been trying to breed my silkies but every egg has been infertile so far. I went out yesterday with scissors... there's a reason they haven't been fertilized! I had trouble even finding the vent on all 3 of them lol! But now that they've all had a nice close trim, I'm hoping my...

Of course! But they do take a week longer so you'll either have a staggered hatch or set the guineas a week earlier than the chickens.

This thread has been quiet for too long! My incubator has been up and running for 2 weeks now. I just set the third batch of eggs. I candled this morning and 18 turkey eggs are dancing/ developing and all but 1 of the ameraucana eggs have development. I'm getting excited for chicks and poults :)

I cleaned a brooder today too now that the majority of the chicks are gone. The last 2 in there are thoroughly enjoying their nice clean "room". I finally got a brooder plate after years of eyeing them up. I think DH is loving not having a bright red heat lamp glowing in the bedroom all night lol

You know, the past couple years, I've been doing to get my hands on another sportsman incubator.... now I know someone selling off several big cabinet bators... and I'm no longer interested. I'm downsizing my chicken flock this year and will be hatching way less. Though I don't think I'll ever...

Most of my hens are on strike right now. I have silkies hatch on Christmas day and New Year's Day (which all but the 2 I'm keeping have left home). I have turkey eggs in the bator but so far, they've all been infertile.

It won't hurt anything to leave it here but you'd probably get a lot more responses to it if you started a new thread about it :)

Welcome to our little corner of BYC! All of that sounds very neat and an awesome way to use up extra heat/ energy. I always thought it would be cool to live off grid :)

....I have one at the moment lol Miss Curiosity got coccidiosis and lost a ton of weight so I had to bring her in for treatment... but now it's too cold to put her back out. She's turned into a major cookie monster (I share Christmas cookies with her every day lol)

Christmas is almost here! Anyone having Christmas babies or doing the NYD hatch along? I have silkies/ showgirls and turkey eggs in the bator now. The silkies are all developing but I don't think my toms have quite gotten in the mood yet. Those eggs all look infertile. First babies are for in...

This year I had to go back to work so that helped my hatching addiction since I didn't have time to hatch as much. My incubators have been shut down for at least a month now..... but a broody just hatched 6 babies anyway .....

My cabinet bator is almost at capacity right now. I'm hatching for a friend so about 7 dozen of them are his but the rest are mine.... Of course all the turkey eggs are filthy from them laying them in the mud and I just finished a hatch so there's egg shells everywhere lol

b @duluthralphie knows the NPIP egg washing techniques pretty well. I bet he could pipe in here with that info. I only wash my eggs before incubating if it looks like the girls had a soccer tournament in the mud with them first lol

Nothing can top @wolfwalker logic! @Cedar Creek Farm Lady You need to incubate every type of egg to mage sure it works properly with all eggs! Just use wolfwalker's tried and true testing with each type of egg. After 9 cycles, you'll know if it works correctly for each type :lau

Emus! You have got to keep us updated on them, with lots of pictures! Lol Absolutely! My incubator is humming away. It's only got 18 turkey eggs so far (more eggs going in today) but more and more of my girls are getting dirty saddles so I expect more soon! Agreed! We're all experts in...
