I start mine out with a thin lid with some ff in it and then a plastic mayo lid and then graduate to a paper plate which they will tear up big time if it's not gotten out soon. lol The chicks seem to like pecking at pieces so I just try to sprinkle it around in a paper plate until they get the...
I got some more hens and a roo to go with my flock and they're not used to FF so I am watching them to make sure they're eating. So far I've only seen one pecking at the trough. The roo ate some of his since he's by himself I can tell he's eating.
Speaking of ff.....I had put me a order in for some heritage Rhode Island reds and he told me his girls wasn't laying much since it was soooo hot here and it might take a month to get the 10 chicks I wanted. So I told him OK so the day he called I was like oh dear I NEED to get some ff starter...
Why not put just about 3/4 cup of your ff that is already going in your small batches for your chicks to get it going in the right direction. Thinking like Bee here. hee hee
The ONLY thing I can see wrong with this is, all that feed ABOVE the ff will or may mold so the walls needs to be cleaned when you stir or get your food out to feed. That on the top and sides needs to be cleaned off and always kept off the sides so it doesn't get IN the food to grow more.
yes PLEASE do because we love you and miss you soooo bad. You know what I have told you how you have helped me soooo much and if it wasn't for you I'd probably done killed my chickens from lack of what to do and stupidity.
thank you! yeah I stir mine well everyday to before or after I get my feeding out for the day. I think they have changed Wares MIllings feed though because mine has changed smells and it's more gummy than before. Don't know WHAT they did but it's gummy now and I've noticed it for the last 4...
Someone asked me was a alcohol smell to the ff mean it's gone bad? Mine doesn't smell like alcohol so I have no clue so was going to ask what does that mean? Mine gets a stronger smell but wouldn't say it smelled like alcohol. Anyway wondering if hers has gone bad?
Well mine should get their fill of meat in the next few weeks. A friend of ours was telling us of someone that had a huge bag of deer meat in their freezer they needed out of it. So we went and got it and someone had frozen the whole deer in a trash bag and didn't even tie up the bag. Had cut...
mine love the stuff and the little chicks I just hatched out this week are eating it like there is no tomorrow. LOL never had any to eat like these are eating. Quite humorous. I even added some fresh garlic chopped up fine to mine with this batch of chicks and the last batch to get them going...
