Hope everyone is well, 3and a bit weeks on and my little jellybeans are starting to look more like green cheeks. They are so incredibly sweet at this age
Well this is what happens when you have one sneaky d'uccle who has been mounted by a silkie roo (the one we rehomed).by the time we realised her egg was half developed when I candled it!! So I moved her to her own box and this little cutie hatched today.
Yes the two other eggs didn't hatch. It seems we are selling these babies as we have had a lot of interest from family! Not yet though, they have to be weaned first.
I hope you find her!!
We seem to be going through an awful lot of parrot food just lately.
Thought I'd better check on the jellybeans. They sure do grow fast
Hi there. I'm not sure what the chook has but just so you know that wormer only treats for roundworm. I'd recommend in a weeks time following uo with a broad spectrum wormer that treats all worm types.
As for withholding period it shouod say on the label
Green cheek babies, I think there are 4. All three parents are spending most of their time in the nest box today. One had a very sneaky peek to see who was topping up their food earlier.
Speaking of which they are going through a LOT of food atm
Hubby and I have been talking about getting some fertilised Faverolles eggs to put under a broody chicken.
He knows how much I want those chickens! If we ended up with all roosters and we couldn't home them they would become dinner - so now I just need to figure out if I could bring myself to...
Welcome new aussie :)
Well we said goodbye to Jim today
He was our dark blue silki roo.
I wanted to keep him but unfortunately we live in the suburbs and the neighbours were sure to complain any moment. We raised him from a tiny chick.
He has gone to live with another lady who will be...
I have both fine and course layer mash. The smaller chickens eat the fine mash first. Might just be the size of the crumbles?
With that in mind - what do you feed a broody chicken who is sitting on eggs? I would have thought layer good is no longer appropriate but what is the alternative?
So much to catch up on! My girls are all laying! Rosie the silkie finally laid her first egg. Not without a fuss though. She spent so much time running around in and out of the coop that she ended up laying it on the grass lol.
Our green cheeks have started hatching much to our excitement...
Thank you for the tip, I don't have anything to use right now. I think I will hunt around for something tomorrow as I'm going to have to break her. It's her first laying season lol.
I have a feeling Daisy the D'uccle is headed down the broody path also. I was really enjoying all these eggs!
