She bought them from a local place at 1-2 days. It's was a few days later it happened. So not that old. As a rule, I always cut up weeds, grass etc that I give babies. That or most often I give them a clump of grass with the dirt still attached and let them eat it at their leisure.
As long as she's acting fine, she should be okay. 2 years ago, one of my sister's keets swallow a big snake all the way to it's tail....my sister pulled it back out...because it was plastic! My point being, they can swallow pretty big things, including snakes (preferably real ones!)
Oddly enough we found tapping in the food and water with your finger works better with keets than dunking them. I don't know why, but it seems to work. I just tap my nail and they seem to think I'm eating/drinking :D But it's true too that the bantams should help with that. They'll see them...
HIII :) I'm back for the most part. Still a bit achy when I sit here too long. Healing well though... slow road.
fyi...I don't call them that either... they are boys and girls lol.
Mine never lay where I want. It's a oh here's one, there's one, oh wow there's one... like they just stop where...
When we got our first three guinea keets my daughter would call them flapping her elbows and sometimes arms and say "begawk begawk beeawk beeawk" None of us knew at the time that that is the sound they actually make! It was bizarre but very cool! Almost like she knew! Years later they still...
Hun sometimes posts get lost in the shuffle and people don't see them or it's the weekend and people are busy. Not to worry they are a very helpful bunch here!
I wouldn't worry about the laying, they do get stressed and sometimes take a bit to start laying again. I'm not sure how old they are...
Mine are pretty quiet for the most part, except when it rains - they yell at it! They don't like new things either. My sister got a new dog and they were up there yelling at it! Not extremely bright sometimes. They like to yell at strange vehicles too.
A hawk grabbed my Barred Rock hen and was trying to drag it across my front yard recently. She's okay, in the house on the mend. But it was the guineas screaming that alerted me!
Your babies are still young. They will get their spots. This little guy is just over a month old and no spots yet.
The one in the pics with my daughter is 3 1/2 months.
Give them time, they will get their ugly bald heads and polka dots! :)
This is our pretty boy, "Tick"
That's...
Ouch. did you try putting cornstarch on it to stop the bleeding? If it tries to bite you just put the cornstarch in something and stick his foot in it.
When my daughter was walking around with her 3mon 2 week old guinea on her arm, It crossed my mind about the questions if they could be really tame. Then when she put it up on her shoulder and was walking around I got off my lazy butt and got the camera!
Thought you might want to see.
Ours will perch on the 6ft dog kennel fencing, in the pine tree etc if you don't get out there early enough.
My little brats are herded into their house every night for their own safety! (Warmth and safe from Predators) It gets very cold here in the winter. Last winter something spooked them...
My sis says we enable our birds. She and I are always worried it's too cold or they're too little or some other reason we can come up with so they aren't ready!!
I'm going to start using the drinking age thing!
