Just realized I mixed up a pic on #6, that was supposed to be the mostly white girl. Fixed my error.
#2 and #3 we are definitely sure are Roos. The rest are yet to be determined...no sign of redness in combs or wattle areas on them.
# 4 an 5 are roos? They have no red at all yet in their comb/wattle area....
I know #2 and 3 are roos. There's no doubt haha. One of them has been working on his voice...Sounds like one of those rubber chicken toys. lol!
Took all the chicks outside today (in batches of 12) to spend some time out in the beautiful weather.
They're all turning out quite beautiful, despite looking nothing like the breed standard haha.
SLW #1 (one on left)
SLW #2
SLW #3
SLW #4
SLW #5 (on left-right is #2 Roo)...
These may not be in the same order as the previous post, fyi.
#1
#2-Runt of the group (Has more chest feathers growing than the obvious roos)
#3
#4
#5
#6-haven't been successful getting a good facial pic on this one
These work for you all?
Thinking we ended up with 6/6 roosters out of these SLWs from TSC. Lol. I think they are about 5 weeks now. Definitely seeing a few very red combs and wattles.
Roo?
Black headed chick-? Roo (Was the runt, but not much red showing yet)
Same chick
Roo?
Not sure on this one yet...
I think these guys are closer to 4 weeks old now. Not sure exactly, as I've lost track.
Several of them have very red comb areas, and quite red wattles forming. I'm seeing red ear lobes becoming more and more noticeable.
Thoughts at this point?
(That guard is about 13" from...
That's what I figured. Just was interesting to see that some of hte chicks we suspect are Roos are growing wattles and such, and have such red comb areas already lol.
Will be interesting to see who's who in a few weeks.
Well, these guys/gals are about 2 weeks old now. There are at least 2 that we are pretty sure are going to be Roos.
They're all quite timid, but friendly.
One of them is my little black headed favorite... I know it's still early, but these guys are starting to get quite red where their combs...
That's what I figured. Been reading you can usually tell around 4-6 weeks. I was just curious :) I have my suspicions about 2 of them, but I'm hoping I'm wrong!
Just for kicks, and to learn more, I'm curious as to what you think of gender of these SLWs. I'm not expecting an instant identification, and know they're usually just a wait and see kind of deal! They are about a week old now, and have grown alot! I can try to get better pics once my camera...
