You're welcome and good luck to you. I wish I had a bunch of King Snakes around here. Mostly what we have are big Rat Snakes. I wish I could post the pics I have of a Rat Snake that ate a squirrel out of a tree in my back yard. I would have had a hard time believing it if I hadn't seen it.
Here is a video showing you how to make a trap using window screen. I think a piece of pvc pipe would work too.
Here shows you how to make one with wood frame and hardware cloth (for some serious snake catching).
Black Kingsnake.
Please don't kill any King Snakes. They are really your...
HAA!! I can picture that! They will definitely make you hurt yourself. LOL I was walking down my sidewalk one day and one was hid up under the edge of some landscape blocks. I guess I bumped it with my foot because it jumped up and over the blocks and I jumped about three feet in the air. Scared...
A Copperhead is venomous, very dangerous. A Corn Snake is a Rat Snake, harmless to people unless they make you hurt yourself. Many people have Corn Snakes as pets. There is a huge market for them.
Breeders have come of with several different colors/morphs of Corn Snake. Very pretty colors...
@bwn001... Oh wow, I'm glad you are alright! So many people want to act like venomous snakes are okay to have around - that "live and let live" bolony. Simply not true! Good luck on getting rid of them.
That's exactly how it works. Set the trap up against something like a wall or fence (they like to travel up against something a lot of times) and make it to where hopefully they will crawl into the trap as they are traveling down the wall/fence. You might need to mound a little dirt up not...
Hi Sara. It was definitely interesting! If somebody had told me that I don't see me believing it. LOL I don't know if the length of time "frozen" makes the difference or what...? All I know is that those things can take a lot and survive when it comes to freezing! It has been a few years ago...
Elwood I don't know if you are still out there but you mention putting venomous snakes in the freezer to kill them. I don't know if it works for you or not but a word of caution - I had some pet snakes that I was hibernating in an outdoor building. Out of the blue (or I wasn't paying attention)...
Wow! I sure am glad your daughter come out of that alright. All these people who THINK that they can "live and let live" with venomous snakes need to talk to you! What area do you live in? Can you tell us more? Like how was your daughter bit? Where do you find the snakes, etc.?
You must have a good woman or a crazy one (no offense intended). LOL No way in h-e-double hocky sticks I would sleep in a house with a cotton mouth or any other venomous snake! Shoot, I don't think I could sleep! It or me one would have to go. I could have bad dreams thinking about this too...
Bringing home the Speckled Kings was a very wise thing to do! That is always my recommendation for snake problems -king snake! The Speckled King is known as the king snake that is the most aggressive about killing other snakes. The one you found dead might have been struck in a vital organ -...
@Elwood Lightfoot, thanks for starting this thread, lots of good information. Spring is just around the corner and the war on snakes will begin. I HOPE I do not find any venomous snakes this year but I am certain there will be plenty of others to deal with... or try to make a deal with. lol I...
