As for the protein, she can probably handle it at this age. She is young and growing. Once she becomes an adult, she will most likely need less, but for now, it's probably ok. When she has had enough protein, she may start rejecting the eggs.

Awww....what a sweet heart!! You are doing a fabulous job with her!! And don't be surprised if her eyesight does improve a bit over the next few months. As I had mentioned earlier, a friend of mine had a nearly blind chick as well and the eyesight did get a bit better over the months as the...

    Peachicks Not Eating

I would always continue with a vitamin regiment on this chic any blind bird. She is no doubt lacking in something and will probably have issues with absorbing nutrients. I hope she continues to thrive!! Keep us posted!! :-)

Her right eye looks very dark. I am on board with her having a bad vision problem, hence the dehydration, the not eating well and her runt like nature. Poor baby. I hope you can get her straightened out or find someone that can take care of her. I know how much time these little ones take...

    Peachicks Not Eating

Aww...she is a sweet heart. Sounds like she does have a vision problem. One of the things my friend did for her vision impaired chick was leave food all around the floor so the chick was always standing on it. Messy, but she tried to keep it as clean as possible. She said the chick would just...

new 2 pfowl brings up an excellent point here. She very well could be partially blind or darn near blind. Are the pupils more black looking rather than having a colorful iris?If they are pretty black, she is probably blind. I have a friend that recently hatched a nearly blind chick. She worked...

This is totally your decision. I completely understand the need to cull if you don't have the time to devote to her. I KNOW how much time and mental energy it takes to keep birds alive, it can be exhausting! I have gone both ways. Generally I keep at it until they are about dead or I can really...

    Peachicks Not Eating

I will be keeping my fingers crossed she holds out and makes a full recovery. Some chicks don't make it no matter how much care you give them. But yes, anytime a bird is sick, there is no much knowledge to be gained in the attempt to save them. This is how we learn. Keep us posted and I will...

    Peachicks Not Eating

This is great news! Sometimes when they are really bad off, it takes a few days for their bodies to catch up with all the vitamins. So the fact that she is even a tad better today is great!! She won't start stuffing her crop until she feels really good. It can take them days after they even...

    Peachicks Not Eating

How is she today? The fact that she was no worse when you last posted may be a good sign? If you don't know how to tube water into a bird, you can use an eye dropper or an insulin syringe, (one of those skinny 1ml syringes.) Because there is an air hole at the back of the tongue and the food...

Thanks for the update on "Thiamine". I was hoping for more from her, but tomorrow is another day. Sometimes with vitamin deficiencies, things get worse before they get better. Just keep up with all you are doing for a few days and see how she responds. Please keep us posted. Sending her healing...

@CarlisleCluck How is your little one this morning?? I sure hope she is feeling a bit better today. Ok...here is my mouse trap system.... We have hordes of mice around here, biblical proportions of them and 1 out of 3 of the carry Hanta Virus which WILL kill you. Years back, I got so...

I think I have pics in the pc of my trap system I can post here or take new ones tomorrow. I am on my phone right now and I have NO idea how to upload with a mobile. LOL Great....I hope the little one is a tad better tomorrow, keeping my fingers crossed for her! :-)

    Peachicks Not Eating

Good deal!! Keep all this up every day and keep us posted as you see changes in her. I will be anxiously awaiting all the good news! :-) As for the mice, they are a pain. See if you can figure out where they are getting in and block it off. I invented a mouse trap system you can keep inside...

    Peachicks Not Eating

I would do the E and Nutri Drench orally instead of in food. If you can, squeeze the contents of an E right into the mouth. As for the Nutri Drench, I would give her about 3 drops onto the mouth as well, 2 or 3 times a day. Alone, Nutri Drench is absorbed into the blood stream from the mouth and...

    Peachicks Not Eating

Going in circles is definitely a vitamin deficiency. Why she has this, we can't be sure. Could be genetic, could be something within her own body, a virus or a bacteria, etc.. Get the vitamins going and her on some high protein non medicated feed. I have seen chicks completely heal even when...

    Peachicks Not Eating

Sometimes you have to crush food for babies for the first week or so. It's a pain for the first couple of weeks, but after a while they can eat the bigger chunks. Generally if they are eating, they are drinking. BUT..it doesn't always work the other way around...they can be drinking and not...

    Peachicks Not Eating

You know, I would get her off the medicated feed immediately. Medicated feed contains Amprolium which is a thiamine blocker for Coccidiosis. (the cocci need this to stay alive/reproduce and so it kills them off with the lack of thiamine) This chick needs all the thiamine she can get right now...

I would give either or, but not at the same time... the Super Pack or the Sav a chick. If you can get the Save a Chick today, do it. Then if you see it helps her, I would order the Super Pack and switch over so she is not taking in so much salt. Yes, you can just add Thiamine to her diet, but...
