The last two ducklings just hatched! That means all 7 eggs hatched successfully on day 27 within a 15 hour hatch window. I couldn't ask for better results for our first time incubating duck eggs.

Watched this guy zip. When it hatched it launched itself completely out of the shell! Zero hesitation. Crazy! 5th duckling is zipping!

I can't remember if I posted this or not but the last duck egg piped! We're well on our way to having 7/7 hatch at our first attempt hatching ducks. On a side note the Easter Bunny put out way too many eggs this year. The kids had to stop half way through to empty their overflowing basket...

You'll have to remind me why you call them that. I imagine they were destined for the trashcan because they were old or dirty or something?

When my rooster died I continued to get fertile eggs for somewhere around 3-4 weeks. It surprised me as well.

Any 1000+lumen light should do it. Most Marans eggs I'd say 800+ but those are particularly dark. I've had Marans over the years. Even the dark ones can be candled. They worst eggs I've had were Olive or porous....so I bought a brighter light!
