I was "punched" in the face when i first started rehabbing Jeffery the injured muscovy drake. It really hurt and it made my glasses fly off my face. I wouldnt want to be hit by some of those geese that are twice the size of a scovy!

I love the rest of your post but I have to disagree with this last comment. my goose does get cuddled and carried around like a baby. I have no issues with her trying to to alpha ....yet, ,maybe be age. after reading this thread, i know how to deal with anything before it starts.
Oh! awesome that you replied! Now we know why they cant do it. It has to do with the weight and lung placement!Makes sense on why I couldnt find anything air sac related!
Opps forgot about the links. Yes... I do have adhd =)
Here is a link to Holderread's Book of Geese. I didnt find anything in it about the air sac but it is a good read.

Thanks for replying. I just spent an hour and a half researching this with no luck. I am going to post some of the links since I spend much of the time going through unrelated stuff. I didnt read every word on every link that I am going to post so maybe I missed something, but from what I have...
I tried to google the air sac thing but everything i pull up has to do with brooding eggs. do you remember where you read that. i trained one of my ducks to lay on her back when i am holding her... maybe i shouldnt have
This is a really good post. I have treated my ducks in the same manner as I treat my dogs. I am the alpha. Some of them are scared of me and run. I havent read as much as I should on gaining trust but keeping dominance.
My situation is completely different, although I am sure I will go...
