They all look like sliver to me. Notice the blue on their wings. Also they are still quite young. I noticed their legs are not right yet either. But that could be the lighting. Drake legs should be turning orange. And ducks should be dark gray. Again give them time they will turn into some...
Well looks as if one of my hens are going broody. She had about 7 eggs now. For the last few years during spring I would try and leave 6-8 eggs inside the nesting box. Marking each with a date, and just remove the oldest on each day. After a few weeks of doing that one of them will always go...
Well the pic of the 6 day olds are the same as 6 weeks old. My drake was always smaller than the duck. so it's very easy to tell them apart. I've also had ducks after 4 days start to have darker bill color then by end of week unable to tell be them apart.
I just got some Welsh Harlequins a few months ago ( 1 Drake 3 ducks). Have been getting quite a few eggs from the girls. Wasn't really sure if the eggs where fertile so i put 4 in with my Rhode Island Red eggs in my incubator. Seeing I'm new to having WH ducks or for that matter ducks in...
Might try this site. They have a good explanation of how to check if during k it laying or not. Don't think you can tell buy bill, eyes or leg color like you can with chickens. My WH have a 3 finger spread and 1 lays every day, another will lay every other day and one will lay once a week. But...
Jasper is one gorgeous hen!! Congratulations!!
it seems that my 1 1/2 yrs old WH have finally settled in after three week in there new home. Got one egg yesterday and 2 more today. but I was wondering the eggs seems to be so slimy looking. I have to really scrub them really hard to get them...
Went out last night to put them up, and they where already inside the coop. Not sure if the rain had anything to do with it or not. We have the same problem with owls and racco ons. So I would sleep better if they where lock up at night. My coop door is equipped with a automatic door open / close.
I was planning on getting some ducks but I was wanting to wait till spring before I purchase some. but I found these Welsh Harlequins on Craigslist. And for the price of $10 a head I couldn't pass them up. the guy that I got them from said they were about 11/2 yrs old and they free range of...
