Oops! Thought I'd responded to this already. First off, thanks so much for your response. I've been letting the humidity lower itself slowly over the last couple days. Right now, it's sitting at 35%. I feel okay with that for the time being. Hopefully that will get the air cell to develop...

Hello all, Doing my first hatch. Using a still air LG. On day 7 and decided to candle, per the app that's keeping me updated on the developing chicks' progress. Anyway, candled the eggs and had a number with obvious life in them - the chicks were moving around. Others, I saw veins all over...

Welcome aboard! I'm not sure the likelihood that the egg will bust open, but if it does, you'll be sorry. Hahaha... I'm a newbie to incubating also. On day 6 right now. The 30% humidity levels are kept by folks who have found success with that level of humidity. As this is my first batch, I've...

Not used my incubator yet, but word on the street is that this is totally normal. Takes a lot o' energy for a baby chick to hatch out. It'll knock a hole in there, "zip" the egg (make a crack all the way around it, and get out. This can take 24+ hours. Very exciting!

Knowing my hen is smart is comforting, as she's been sitting on an egg for the last 20 days. Fingers crossed it hatches out and fingers out as well that I do half as well as my hen. Hahaha

Thanks! And thanks, MeepBeep. Interesting info. I think if I can keep the temp pretty steady (added some water today once the humidity finally got in the 20s), I won't do any more engineering on my own. Especially as it's not mine. Now back to monitoring the temp and my li'l notepad! All the...

Quick question: I'm borrowing a friend's Little Giant. It seemed to hold a steady temp until last night, when I realized a still-air machine should sit at around 102 instead of 99.5. I adjusted it and it got there pretty fast, no problem. Then this morning, the temp was 100. I suspect it will...
