WOW you have soooo many! Mine still want to sleep in the dog crate and they are around a week older than yours.
I even tried putting them on a branch up higher in the pen. They prefer the ground. Hope they get over this.
They have adopted a new mommy. I put the lone White EE chick in with them...
I am pretty sure it was sky danger. I dont know which kind. It was late enough a whipporwill could have done it. Hawks of many kinds, and Vultures could have done it. I am missing a white preteen Americauna. It disapearred yesterday evening. All accounted for tonight. We are keeping a better...
Sad Update...Guinea mama chicken gave her life today to save the keets and her chick. We are not sure what took her. Three of us were in the yard and saw the keets flying towards the pen. I commented on it. A few minutes later a realized they were all screaming so I run see whats up. I find all...
OK I gave them back to the hen after I built them a new pen, Fully enclosed about 8ft X 3ft with a dog crate to sleep in.
Temporary fix until I can put them in a bigger pen. Probably swap them and my Tom out since he has a big covered pen all to himself. He can move to the smaller pen and be...
I took them away and put them in a brooder. She is just too vigerous in her scratching. She killed one in her stamping, digging, frenzy, of hunting for food. They are just not bright enough to jump in and out while she scratches. I watched her step on three of them and just kick them to the back...
Heres my pics and a short video!Hen and all...
They do sound a little different to me and they dont scream like a chick does when you pick them up.
I dont know what colors they are (will be), as I am new to Guineas...The black one is a Cochin bantam
OH and my hen thinks they are wonderful...doesnt seem to have noticed they are different. They are MUCH more active than the chick...They pop in and out and hop around while the chick is sleepy. I will probably remove the chick to a group of similar aged chicks and leave the hen with just guineas.
Mine HATCHED yesterday! 8 out of 15 keets plus a single chick. When I lifted the hen and saw the SOLID BLACK KEET I was REALLY excited to say the least...but then I remembered I had added a few bantam cochins...LOL now wouldnt a solid black guinea have been awesome??
Oh Well...I do have some...
Thanks, I too was looking for this info.
My Bator quit on me during the tornados last week so I stuck my guinea eggs under a broody American Game hen.
I wasnt sure if she could raise them or if I needed to take them away and do it myself.
They should hatch on the 13th along with three chicken eggs.
