yes, I've always had several roo's in with the laying hens and never had a problem, just feed the layer pellets. Or, another option, if you're really worried about the roo's, is to feed pellets without the calcium added and offer oyster shell in a separate container for them, the hens will eat...
I feed just the 16% layer pellets they sell at the co-op or MFA here. Prior to laying, for the younger birds, here I found some pellets that are 18% by nutrena, without the calcium...just ask at your local farm store what they recommend.

hello folks. I have a question; is there a blue/blue splash ameraucana chicken? I bought some hatching eggs here a couple years ago that were supposed to be lavender ams and I had what appeared to be a blue hen hatch out of one of them...she looked blue, not lavendar.
