I am going to guess a flying predator is grabbing the baby birds and flying off. The adult birds are probably harassing the predator until the baby gets dropped.
Really? If you see one sick bird and then the entire flock is dead by morning...... Where are the survivors that will be culled ??
But, you are right, the disease will progress quickly.
One bird on your PROPERTY will get all of your birds destroyed, no matter how many 'separate' flocks the farm maintains.
Biosecurity is every flock owner's best friend! And prayer!
gjensen, I am wondering whether you realize that on a farm that has a commercial flock, the chicken company owns the birds. The farmer owns the building and the property. When the flock has to be destroyed, the farmer has no more income. The poultry companies do not pay the farmer a weekly...
I hope not only the chicken corporations will be compensated, what will be done for the farm owner. How is he going to pay the mortgage if his buildings stand empty for months at a time??
