Lost my only Isbar/SB hen a couple months back, and my egg order from Florida was a bust (too far I guess). ISO SB eggs closer to ID or an extra pullet or two. I am in Idaho, but could get birds picked up in Northern UT or on I-80 route through WY to Cheyenne.
My only Silverudd's Blue hen disappeared!!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't it figure she'd vanish 2 weeks before I planned to build her and my Silverudd's Blues rooster a breeding pen? Now what'll I do with him?! Guess he gets the golden sexlinks I picked up from the farm store until I can get more hatching...
Just getting readfy to add 10 Isbar eggs to my duckling and turkey hatch (they'll be on day 7 tomorrow). Picked up 7 here on BYC (broke 3 naturally ). I have 6 from my own pair of isbars as well. Thought I was stuck with 3 of hers. The runt has been laying eggs under a bush for 3 days. Must be...
Here is my lovely pair. Finally got my rooster back from my cousin. Left the larger of my two isbar cockerels with my cousin. His comb had a funky dent in the front, plus my cousin said he was the mean one. This is the one I decided on. he is so much larger than the last time I saw him!
About when do they start laying? My girl is about 6 months old or more. Can't wait to start incubating her eggs (once I get my Isbar rooster back from my cousin)
Edit- never mind. Here's her egg I found. Ain't she pretty?(btw- check out that massive duck egg)
If you're talking about mine, I like my other cockerel better. He's got a big comb and wattle. Come to think, should they have single combs? That's what my other cockerel has. (though the little punk is still really proud of his crowing. At least he's too small for the crow to be really...
Looks like I have a trio of Isbars. I'm actually happy one of the three is a boy (at least I will be if I can pull off picking up a bit of land in the next couple of months....) He seems to be a very good watch-cockerel.
(ignore the two Ameraucanas in the back...)
My baby Isbars are big enough to tell the gender. I hatched 5 about 1 month ago, but sold 2 of them a week ago. I got incredibly lucky. Went to look closely at them yesterday, and one was clearly a cockerel. The other two are pullet. Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a trio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
