Thank you for asking kimmee. All the others hatched and are doing very well, it was just this one that did not make it.

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

Well unfortunately I lost this one overnight. I checked to see what exactly the problem was and it was malpositioned and the yolk had not fully absorbed. What a heartbreaker. Thank you for all your advise.

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

That's what I've been worried about. I have it wrapped in a wet paper towel and it is still alive, I'm just not sure when or if to do anything else. Here is a pic as of now I don't believe it's done absorbing the blood/yolk yet, its been 24 hours since I first started to try and assist. This...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

So I ran a couple errands tonight and came back and still no external pip but could see movement so I made a hole in the egg and saw that there was no internal pip, so I just wrapped the egg in a wet paper towel and put it back, I hope I didn't hurt this baby or worse, any advice?

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

I have some goose eggs in the hatcher, today is day 30 and 2 have externally pipped, but the other's have not. They all internally pipped between days 25 and 26, so my question would be when should I if need be start an assisted hatch for the one's that have been internally pipped since day 25...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

I have never heard of goose eggs taking 48 days, the most that I've heard for the bigger breeds is 32 days. I incubate standard toulouse geese and the they hatch on days 29 and 30 for me.

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. When you put your eggs in lockdown minimum humidity that I find works so that the membrane doesn't dry out while hatching is 65%. I put lots of water in mine and let the humidity even get up to 75, 80% and this seems to work well. I had 10 out of 10 goose...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

My gosling finally made it!!! This afternoon it started trying to push it's way out, but couldn't quite finish the job because the membrane was a little tough and couldn't quite get pushed out, so I grabbed my tweezers and started pulling more shell and pulling the outer membrane back until it...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

Thank you for asking! It is still alive and breathing, but no progress since I went to bed. Now I'm afraid to try and help anymore and cause anymore bleeding, but I know I need to get it out of there soon, I'm just worried about whether all the blood vessels and yolk are absorbed yet...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

Okay, so despite the fact that I had a damp paper towel around the egg and my humidity is 78%, this gosling started to get shrink wrapped (I guess b/c I had it out of the incubator to make the external pip). I reluctantly pulled some more shell away so that I could try and moisten the inner...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

Well I made an artificial external pip right where the beak was and was able to pull back the outer membrane and there was no blood, and I could be wrong, but I didn't see the inner membrane with veins in it, so I'm assuming that it has the yolk and blood is completely absorbed? After making...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

I have no idea if the yolk is fully absorbed. I think I will try to do an external pip and put it back in the incubator with a damp papertowel and see if it makes any progress on it's own, at least I'll know it's breathing, I just hope I don't make it start bleeding. Wish me luck!

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

I have a question for everyone, my fifth goose egg has been internally pipped between four and five days (I noticed it pipped on day 26, but not sure if it pipped on day 25 or not), but no external pip, today is day 30, is it time to do an external pip and assist so it doesn't run out of air or...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

This is my second year incubating goose eggs, my first year I only set two eggs, one was infertile and the second hatched no problem whatsoever. This year I incubated seven eggs the first go around and lost all of them. After buying a new thermometer I realized my temp was an entire degree low...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

Thank you so much for everyone's advice! This has been very stressful since my I lost all of my goslings in my last batch of eggs. The air cell for this egg was actually on target when I put it in lockdown and even though I had my humidity up to 70% it still grew larger, so I'm interested to...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

Here is a picture of my goose egg, today is day 29, I'm pretty sure that it has internally pipped for 24 hours now. I have not seen a distinct beak shadow, it is moving around a lot, but not making any noise, so I'm assuming it is okay? Am I correct in waiting until day 30 before making an...

Goose Incubation & Hatching Guide - Completed!!!!

Okay, so I will definitely rule out trying to do an internal pip. I actually just candled the egg that is on day 28 and it looks as though it has finally pipped internally. I guess now it's just waiting to see if it externally pips. I suppose if it gets to day 30 (I'm assuming after two...
