The are many demoestic breeds hwere that are in need of preservation. Even then it's unikely you're goig to get a line that produces 100% chicks to standard. I did get a buyer for the daisies.

Nope and nope. Well I can't say about the Mareks as I'm not the original owner.

yes me! How much you wanna spend? I have nice styrofoam box I can put them in. I'd say a three day supply would be about all that is safe seeing as I just have the two hens. The postage is the biggest cost since I have everything else. I need an address. Are you ready for them now? I'm...

That was $30 for all three, not one chick. I was asking $10 for a chick, but most folks here don't really care what the breed is. They just want cheap chickens.

I will post pics when DW gets home. She's in TX and has the camera. I just had another hatch and it looks like only one hatched this time too. I've been trying to sell mine but no takers for the price I want. I paid $30 for the original three and that's what I've asked for them but no takers...

I just wondered since the ones in the pic look different. The lone chick I hatched is the darker variety. Got more eggs in the incu. Some of the ones from last time weren't fertile. Wonder if the roo has taking a liking to only one of the girls.

Are Daisies auto sexed. I hatched one chick this last hatch. So now I have four. I'm going to set more eggs tomorrow. Not just Daisies but some Daisies.

I recall two situations where a C. Rock hen couldn't find her way into the coop and I looked for her. I found her sitting on top of the coop, with a flash light. I walked up and picked her off with no trouble. Then my MD. roosters also did not make it into the coop, They had both jumped the...

I'm not quite sure what it is you're getting at here. Do folks "bait" for predators? Or are you saying that letting your birds be picked off might produce birds that are more predator savvy in that you'll soon have birds that are not picked off? My nephew and a friend both had their...

I did have a fox attack twice but none for quite some time. Too, I've started to see Night rabbits and that's a good sign. I saw turkeys yesterday morning. I rarely see deer. I've got three pairs of jeans stapled to trees in the woods and there will be more, but I do make my rounds some...

I'm sure lots of folks work to get an SOP bird but I think the odds of getting a whole flock of SOP birds is not likely. From the breeders on here you have to hatch out 100's and grow out 100's. Then when you cross two SOP birds you'll get quite a few that are not SOP. There was a gentleman...

It's not unheard of to "recreate" a breed. My Delaware are just that. A friend in MO took on the project and I now have her chickens in my flock. Point being don't be discouraged. Give it shot. I personally am too old and have to rely on a much younger folks to untake the adventure. You...

With all due respect I won't be interested in any crosses when and if we trade. Seems to me Coyote, Owls and Wild dogs need to be dealt with. I would not have chickens if I had such a problem. One thing I do and he might try is "Marking his territory". I even have old jeans stapled to some...

Someone on the New York chicken lovers thread had a bad deal with California. Chicks all dead and that sort of thing. What my thoughts were with eggs was doing a round robin type thing. I'll send eggs to a person for the shipping and packaging, ( I have anice styrofoam container) that person...

We are quite a bit apart. When they are old enough for hatching I'll let everyone know and ship half dozen eggs at a time since I have only two hens with a three day window folks should get them before their max window viability. I've never lost a bird to the cold. Warm and damp but not the...

Well mine have finally started to lay. Since they're from May/June and their combs looked good I switched them to a layer feed. Eggs are brown, not as whitish as I thought they'd be. Since no one offered to take them to breed, I'm keeping them for now. One taker only wanted the hens and...

I don't have them with other birds. Just the three. I've been keeping them in the coop since they're fliers and they do go into the woods if I'm not around. The front is open so they can see out. They do like to be where I am. Too my new neighbors have a dog though I haven't seen them out...

I do like this breed though they are fliers. They launch themselves off the coop and must go twenty feet in the air. I had specifically started with heavy breeds as they rarely go over the four foot fence. I'm always open to an exchange of eggs if that will work too. Mine should be...
