From my experience no set time for the copper to show up. Usually after three weeks and then when they decide. They color up like the BC Marans and sometimes they will get very little and even some will never color up. Lots depends how good they are bred.
Kim, A few year ago when I was raising 100s of BC and growing them out I was using Mahogany colored males almost exclusively. You will get less of the Blended Hackle fowl by using the Mahogany colored males. The Mahogany color is a Gold Mine with breeding the BC. Don
This chick could be a splash or a light Blue Copper. It is much easier to tell when they are about three weeks old.The BC chicks looks like they are going to have some nice color. The white means they will have color if they do not have too much. Don
Marcy, Even with the Hackle color he is by far the best male you have posted. This is a time when you just have to go with the best you have available. I would use a female that is on the lighter Blue side.
The size of the Flame on the Blue Copper works the same as it does on the BC.
