do you see it moving inside the egg? it sounds like it's a good egg. what day is it on?I just looked at the egg. The air cell placement is good and I still see blood lines. What else should I be looking for?
Fingers crossed!!
Ugh I feel your pain. every breeder I have visited in my area doesn't even have a breeding program, they just put a bunch of hatchery birds together and call themselves breeders it bothers me lol. with the exception of 1 or 2 good breeders I have found. last winter i spent $150 on shipped eggs and didn't even get 1 chick to hatch.
I just looked at the egg. The air cell placement is good and I still see blood lines. What else should I be looking for? If this baby makes it, it will be a miracle!
Fingers crossed!!
It's definitely moving. We're on day 21. When it hatches, do I place it back with mommy and baby and hope they accept it?do you see it moving inside the egg? it sounds like it's a good egg. what day is it on?
nicequality silkies are ALWAYS gorgeousI know! The closest breeder that has good birds is an hour & 1/2 from me. But she's really picking when selling eggs and will only sell when she has extra. So it's been a waiting game with her, then when she does have eggs my incubator has already been full!
I did pay about $150 in shipped, also this past year. Luckily I got 9 chickens. But they are bearded silkies and I haven't been able to sex them!! for at least half girls!
Yes, as the previous poster said, look for any movement!! It will help to be in a dark room as most of the space in the egg is taken up. Look right under the air cell. There's a little space between air cell and chick where you might be able to pick up some movement.
if you have a broody momma with a baby already then thats what I would do. I've heard mixed opinions on staggered hatches so I wouldn't really be the person to ask for that. I always just set my eggs for 1 date. sorry I think your eggs will be fine though. i up mine to about 65% when hatching but when they start hatching your humidity will raise even more so I wouldnt worryIt's definitely moving. We're on day 21. When it hatches, do I place it back with mommy and baby and hope they accept it?
My temp is 99.5 and I raised my humidity to 61%. Should it be higher and is it going to affect my other eggs in here? I took out a turning tray, but doesn't leave it much room.
Fingers crossed for a pullet even if it is a rooster, he'd be a good one to have for the purpose of breeding egg layersThis is what momma has been doing all morning, not wanting to sit at all. This is my week old baby and I think it's a "he". He's feathering out and his comb is protruding sooner than a pullet.
I would have zero issues with paying that for quality birds. I'd love to have silkies, but we're in Indiana and I don't know much about their cold tolerability.nicequality silkies are ALWAYS gorgeous
