Taking in some roosters and 2 guinea fowl to be processed on Friday. I started my first flock and ended up with 7 roosters. I only have 2 coops and am keeping 3 roosters. I imagine 1 more rooster will have to go, but from what is left I can't justify a single serving meal at this point (golden lace polish, silkie and a gorgeous easter egger roo).

So I'm nervous about the whole process. I want to be as kind as possible obviously. I have large dog crates I was thinking would suffice for transport, but am weary about putting multiple roosters in small crates together. These guys are 19 weeks old and I haven't had any issues with them sleeping in the same coop at night (free range during the day). Is it safe to have them take a half hour ride in a large dog crate together? I have 7 birds (2 are guinea hens) and have 2 large dog crates that would be the appropriate size for a lab breed dog. That would make 4 and 3 in either crate. I'm taking feed (but not water, right?) Away 15 hours prior to drop off. They will be in a dog run (8*8) during the 15 hours of separation.

What else do I need to know?

That sounds satisfactory. Bear in mind if you have too many birds in a crate they can pile up in the corner and smother each other. I wouldn't think that would be an issue with what you have described.
