So I met a guinea (no idea of the gender- that's really hard to tell, right?) yesterday who is living in a shelter with a couple roosters. I have always wanted guineas and I planned on getting them as soon as I close on my new 5 acre property (I am on a much smaller parcel right now with close neighbors) on Sept 22nd. Obviously this guinea is fine living with chickens which is what he/she would do at my house until the move, but my concern is how much noise a single guinea will make. I have watched videos of big groups of them sounding the alarm, but this one was very quiet and only really made noise at all when I played a youtube video of other guineas- and then it made a sad noise because it wants friends :-(
So guinea people- do you think a single guinea makes more noise than a flock of chickens? I don't want to upset my neighbors with the move still a month away. Also do they have different space requirements? I know a lot of people free range their guineas and lock them up at night, but this one would need to live in 10x10 2 story coop and only free range in the evening while I can watch because of the neighbors. Thanks for your input!
