Some advice on quail.

Hey guys, first of all love the site been using it for a year to help me out with our upstart farm. This place has saved me from making some big mistakes with my chickens and I thank you all. As for the quail concerns I have never had them so I'm a little mixed up on it all. I recently built two 4x8 pens intending to put quail in them but I'm not exactly sure how many I can comfortably keep in them. I'm also not really sure about the dustbath. Any advice would be awesome guys, thanks.
 
One thing you will always want to pay attention to is the "depth" of the cage. You don't want it any deeper than your arm can reach (if that makes sense). If you have a quail (or egg) that you want to remove from the back of the cage and it is 48" deep, unless your arm is 48" long, you will never be able to reach that object.
The cages that I make are 24" deep, with the exception of my Bobwhite cage, which is 30" deep (96 x 30 x 12). When I was making that cage, I had this lame brain idea to have part of my flooring made out of wood so I could drop a 2" baking pan into the floor specifically for DME. I found an aluminum baking pan at the Dollar Store, traced the bottom and made a cut so the pan would sit flush into the flooring. I used gorilla glue to keep it in place. I'll put some DME or sand into the pan and they'll sit in it and dust for hours on end.
Oh, and if your quail are bobwhites, you can keep 2 quail in that cage.

First, thanks for the replies. I made the pens only 2 foot tall as I thought I remembered seeing something about the height. Also I should have clarified better, the pens are 4 foot by 8 foot. And I'm looking to house coturnix quail. Hopefully I spelled that right.
