Bumless George

I posted about this bird in the General FAQ forum but have had zero response, so I thought that I would try here.

This Welsummer chick is coming up to 9 weeks old, the pic shows him with his normal tailed brother. Bumless George, as the name implies, seems to have no tail. How common is this defect?

I occasionally have males that don't start to grow tail feathers until they are 3-4 months old. Bumless George probably won't be Bumless forever. smile.png

This is a ridiculous looking guy that I have right now. He hatched 5/28 and is just starting to grow tail feathers.
2 dogs, 6 cats, 40 chickens (australorps, wyandottes, and easter eggers), lots of tropical fish, and a toddler.

I do hope so! What worries me is that I can't feel a parson's nose thingy, pygostyle I think is the proper term.
