Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! What lovely silkies you have there! When you say help in hatching them, do you mean someone to do them for you or help with the incubating process so you can do them yourself with an incubator?

Thank you for your reply. I m new to having Silkies as pets. They are lovely indeed. When they are hungry for corn , they would wait by the glass door. Lately I have added a boy to my 3 girls. I am wanting to buy an incubator from the Internet. Wondering if anyone could give me some advice on this product.

Actually you may not need one. Silkies are probably the best broody hens there are. Not all silkies go broody but many do and they could hatch their own eggs, once you have a silkie roo. The best silkies are also very motherly even when not brooding and often adopt and mentor younger chicks. Some silkie roos will even sit on the eggs so momma can go eat, drink and relieve herself.

Of course when they are broody, they are not laying more eggs and they can go broody often. You can also swap out their eggs for fertile eggs of other breeds and they will hatch them.

At their best they are a truly remarkable breed. Many folks keep some just for their broody qualities. Since you are heading towards summer, it would be a great time to raise chicks. Welcome to Backyard chickens. If you want to know more about silkies - check out the "Silkie thread," so you can ask breeders, etc.
