Hello! I have two young chickens, around 6 months old. They were either included in a lot of cockrels that we got for meat, or they were in a lot of Black Copper Maran pullets that we got at the same time. I can't remember which group they are from.

I thought they were Blue Copper Marans, but someone in a Facebook group said they might be mixed breed chickens. So far, in said group, the vote is both cockrels: 1 to both hens: 2

I Would appreciate your insight! Thanks!

Very likely hatchery quality blue copper marans cockerels. 'Rooster' feathers are starting to show in their hackles, saddle, and wing coverlets.

They're all cockerels, that's for sure. hens won't have that coloring, with the red on the wings.

they could easily be poor quality blue Marans. The red leakage is excessive and a good breeder would have culled them from being breeding stock. They still taste great, though.

Agreed

Thanks, everyone! I trust the source I got them from, so they probably came in the lot of meat birds. Yes, they were hatchery birds. I didn't want to accidentally slaughter a hen!!
