The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

This land is not for farming for sure... But its loaded with naturally growing medicinals... As well as being good forage for goats. fire protection.

My portion of the land is about five acres that are sloped gently if not outright flat. NO topsoil... What you see in the last picture is the same as my driveway. Hard packed Decomposed granite. It has a Crazy quick perk rate because there isnt enough organic material to hold the water.

I lost three thousand gallons of water from a water tank, down a gopher hole because of a hole in a hose. took about two to three weeks. The trench for the water line will only need to be about twelve to eighteen inches deep But its something I simply cannot do.

I wish Igor was more adventurous but he hates change of any kind. I moved to AZ with the kids and left him in CA to figure out if he was going to join us or not.

DH has been working in Denver a lot this year+. He said its time to buy a house there & move. I said we'd miss him when he was gone. :oops:Not exactly the enthusiastic response he was hoping for. :gig

its hard... Its high desert. The rocks behind the house are due north.. If you turn south you can see mountains in Baja California. I am about two miles from the border.

I lived in the desert or high desert all my life I could not live elsewhere. Colton California San Bernardino area is all desert but people dont remember that because its just about wall to wall freeway and city.
Roswell New Mexico... Mild High desert... Snow in winter some hot days but mostly low Rain
Las Vegas... Very hot
San Diego... Mediterranean. it was the first time I ever saw fog. The ocean mitigates the climate.
Then Jacumba... mild High desert.... Snow in winter Some REALLY hot days but usually the same as San Diego without the humidity.

Oh I get it, our whole family was still there and I didn't want to leave. We weren't making it in CA and it was only going to get worse. Neither of our families were helping us, just left to our own devices. I was a stay at home mom until my oldest was in middle school so I had no skills and wasn't making much money. The job I have now paid as much at that time as what we made combined in CA. I wanted my kids to have stability so I took the job, got my insurance license and went back for kids and cats. In our case it was the right thing to do. His family is still pissed at me for it but I don't care.

LOL.... I bought my first Forecart from an online friend that lived in Riverside... She was moving to their land in Utah... Packing up all her Fijords in a big horse trailer and leaving her husband in Riverside. He got her settled on their Land and hauled the horse trailer back to Riverside. It had living quarters in it and he kept it parked at the fire station where he worked. Had two more years to retirement.

She also road her horses... When she was asked if the Fijords could keep up with the other trail horses... She laughed and said flat walk and the other horses would be eating dust...

Very sturdy and short... Classified as pony because of their height 13.1 -14.3 hands meaning thirteen hands one inch or fourteen hands three inches...
Weight can be 880-1100 lbs... Great driving and small farming horses...

I spent the better part of my childhood running around all over the desert with my folks camping. I'm very familiar and love it. I think there are a lot of people who live in CA that have no clue they're living in the desert. The aqueduct made that so in a lot of ways.

I can understand wanting a change, it can be a good thing. Not wrestling alligators is definitely a plus!

I wish Igor was more adventurous but he hates change of any kind.

Hey, I M, like I tell the Princess , "Perhaps the both of you are lucky that you married men who hate change." :lau

So I take it you're staying put Roomy :p

There's no way I would even consider moving to Denver these days. Too many people, too much traffic, too much crime, crazy housing prices. No thanks!
