Good morning everyone. I am new at this chicken thing. I got my first little feather babies about two weeks ago. They were straight run sex links. Can anyone tell me what the are. The man said they were a mix between delaware and rir. I don't knw the sex of them either I am hoping I got only one little roo.

The entire beauty of sex link chicks is knowing what sex they are at hatch. Males are white/yellow and females are red. If all the chicks were light colored, the seller pulled all the girls and sold the boys.

Did the man say which breeds were the roosters and which breeds were the hens? They will only be color sex linked if the roosters were RIRs and the hens were Delaware. If that's the case, then they are all males. However, if the roosters were Delawares and the hens were RIRs, then you will not be able to tell the gender of the chicks by color.

The bottom line is that if they are actually sex links then they are all male. RIR/Delaware is one of the most common crosses to produce Red Sex Link pullets (cockerels are whitish). If they just have sex link parents then they could be either sex, but I would still think there should be red ones in the mix. It seems very likely that they are all males.

It looks like they are almost 4 weeks old too, so the combs and waddles should start showing up in the next week or two, and then you'll know for sure.

I don't think he did say which parent was which and they are almost four weeks old. So I guess it is just a waiting game from here. Thank you all so much for the replies.
