In terms of him mating it shouldn't, but the pecking order will be thrown off among the hens and you may see a drop in egg production as they get things settled. I would most definitely crack an egg to check fertility, just in case he's mating them when you don't see it. I've seen my cemani cock mate with a hen maybe once but all the eggs are fertile from that pen so I know he's doing his job even though I don't see it.
