I had a duckling do this about 14 hours after hatching. It was very sudden, and he couldn't stand at all, he just flipped and flopped around peeping like mad. I assumed it was wry neck, and gave him some poly-vi-sol. The next day, he could stand shakily, but would still flip backwards when he tried to drink or got excited. Within a couple days he was completely normal. Is star gazing a form of wry neck, or something different? Glad yours is recovering!
