Silkies are super fun and cuddly. Get them and getting rid of unwanted birds should not be a problem for the reasons stated above. Have fun

Yeah, but they have VERY limited visibility (the bearded ones) and it can be hard for them to be free ranged at all without a "haircut"

Agreed but i wouldn't ever truely free range them anyway. Too many predators to make snacks of them. Everything from cats to hawks here in sc.
I do intend on trimming around the eyes and vents periodically for breeding and sight purposes though.

We have several that free range right now and they have our 'guard dog' that keeps them safe (just a mutt not technically LGD but she stays with them and does her best, mind you this just came naturally to her she was just a blessing who showed up at our house one day) not one raccoon, opossum or stray dog in my yard since she showed up a little over a year ago. i also know they get picked on so they will probably have their own coop and supervised free range. I havw wanted them for SO long and i would be really mad if something kills them lol!

We also have our roosters who are VERY watchful for hawks! Like i said though my silkies will be considered 'special'
