A hen can not genetically become a rooster. Damage to the functioning ovary can cause a hen to develop rooster-like features, but she will still be female. Her chromosomes don't change. It is not possible for a rooster to change into an egg-laying hen. Some breeds have hen-feathered males, but they are still genetically male.I just heard this on a YouTube vid and it said a hen can become a rooster when there oviduct is damaged so I was wondering is it possible that a rooster can become a hen when a hen becomes a rooster they crow there comb and wattles get bigger
No. A rooster can not become a hen. Some breeds have hen feathered males, but they are still male, just without the typical male hackle and saddle feathers.I have watched that one and they did send feathers out for genetic testing on the rooster found in the commercial egg laying cage.
It turned out he was all he but as Junebuggena said the genetics are still female if the ovaduct is damaged and they go through the to much testosterone changes.
Chickens are amazing things lol. Always something new to learn with them.
I have never heard of a rooster becoming a hen though. I wonder if that is even a possibility.....
